Terms of Service
Last updated November 1, 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply to QPad (the Windows app), the website qpad.no, accounts on qpad.no and QPad licenses. They are an agreement between you and Sandberg Software AS (org. no. 920 612 261, Mattis Skyttersvei 183, 1482 Nittedal, Norway), called “we” and “us” below. By creating an account or activating a license you accept these terms.
You may use the free features of QPad without an account. The terms about the software (sections 4, 5, 9 and 10) apply to that use too.
2. Accounts
- You need an account to get a license. An account is personal and belongs to one person.
- Give your real name and an e-mail address you can receive mail at, and keep them up to date.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens with your account.
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
- You can delete your account at any time on your account page.
3. Editions and licenses
Each account has one license key. The license is one of these editions:
- Free
- All features for 14 days from the first activation. After that, the premium features (IntelliSense, quick fixes and the Pro features) are turned off, and the rest of QPad keeps working. A trial is given once per account and once per device.
- Pro
- All features, all the time. Pro is free for now. We may start charging for Pro. If we do, free Pro licenses end at the earliest 3 months after we have notified you by e-mail, and you will be offered to buy Pro. A Pro license you have paid for is not affected.
- Educational
- All features, free, for students and teachers at schools, colleges and universities. It may only be used for learning and teaching, not for commercial work or work for an employer or a customer. It lasts 12 months and can be renewed. The information you give when you apply must be correct.
- A license may be active on up to 3 devices at the same time. You can free a device in QPad or on your account page.
- A license is for your own use. Do not share your key with others. In an organization, each user needs their own account.
- QPad checks the license with qpad.no regularly. If it has not been able to do so for 30 days, the premium features are turned off until it can.
4. The right to use the software
We give you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to install and use QPad according to your edition. QPad and qpad.no belong to us and are protected by copyright. You may not:
- sell, rent out or distribute QPad or license keys
- circumvent or tamper with the license checks or the device limit
- decompile or reverse engineer QPad, except to the extent the law allows despite this restriction
QPad includes open-source components that are licensed under their own terms. See the third-party notices.
5. Your code and your data
- Your queries, connections and files stay on your machine. We do not claim any rights to them.
- If you allow it, QPad sends error reports about errors in QPad itself to qpad.no, including the code you ran. You can turn this off under Settings. Read more in the Privacy Policy.
- QPad runs the code you write, against the databases you connect to. You are responsible for that code and for having permission to access those databases. Keep backups of important data.
- If you send us a feature request, we may use the idea freely.
6. Acceptable use
You may not use QPad or qpad.no to break the law, or to harm us or others. In particular, you may not:
- create accounts automatically or in bulk, or give false information to get a license
- try to get around rate limits, gain access to other accounts, or overload the website or its API
7. Changes
We develop QPad continuously, and features may change. We may change these terms. Significant changes are announced by e-mail or on qpad.no at least 30 days before they take effect, and you will be asked to accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, you can delete your account.
8. Suspension and termination
We may withdraw a license or close an account if these terms are broken, for example if a license is shared, Educational is used for commercial work, or false information was given. Where it is reasonable, we will contact you first. When an account is closed, its license ends.
9. No warranty
QPad is provided “as is”. We work to make it reliable, but we do not guarantee that it is free of errors, that it suits a particular purpose, or that qpad.no is always available.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost data, lost profit or downtime. Our total liability is limited to what you have paid us for QPad in the 12 months before the claim, or NOK 1,000 if you have not paid anything. This does not limit liability for gross negligence or intent.
11. Consumers
If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes are to be settled by Oslo District Court (Oslo tingrett). If you are a consumer, you may also bring a case where you live, and you can contact the Norwegian Consumer Council (Forbrukerrådet) for help.
